I Want to See, I Want to Hear, and That Is Why I Travel

Centered around Kazuko Ono’s travelogue that reflects what the author grasped during her journey to collect folktales from people, this book combines these narratives, along with supporting letters and references, into eighteen stories. Three young artists—Ryusuke Hamaguchi (film director), Natsumi Seo (artist), and Lieko Shiga (photographer)—who sympathize with Ono’s practice provide contributing texts.

The cover image and photographs in the book were taken by Shiga in Miyagi Prefecture. Masakazu Onishi’s design work that assembles individual element of a page in a sophisticated and beautiful manner. Chinatsu Shimizu did the planning and editing for the book.
